Circus Phantasmagoria

Circus Phantasmagoria

Six Feet Below the Big Top

Phan·tas·ma·go·ri·a
fæntæzməˈgɒrɪkl
noun: phantasmagoria; plural noun: phantasmagorias

A sequence of real or imaginary images like those seen in a dream.

Welcome to the extraordinary realm of the Liminal Initiative: a visionary company that stands at the crossroads of technology and the profound mysteries of human consciousness. Through the revolutionary concept of “Physiotourism”, we invite you to experience a groundbreaking exploration of the human psyche where you will walk through a physical manifestation of the human brain in the final seconds of life. Join us on the cutting edge of science, where we use our proprietary technology to bridge sensory perception and the metaphysical.

This immersive and interactive experience, created by Alterra Productions in collaboration with Friends of Laurel Hill, invites you to wander through the labyrinthine corridors of the mind, represented by the very real pathways of Laurel Hill Cemetery, where you will meet a captivating cast of acrobatic entities and otherworldly beings who sketch the boundaries of altered consciousness on the brink of death.

Wander down illuminated pathways, explore hidden corners, and make your way toward the bridge to the other side. As you do, prepare for a cirque-tacular conclusion, where you will witness high-flying feats amid the permanent residents of Laurel Hill.

Your personal narrative of the afterlife will be shaped by the stories you hear, the creatures you encounter, and the choices you make during your exploration. Whether you take in as much as you can in one night or return for a new journey, your experience will be uniquely yours. Blankets and chairs will be coat-checked and moved to the end stage for your convenience, and cash bars will be available to enhance your journey.

Circus Phantasmagoria is a thought-provoking odyssey into the profound mysteries of life, death, and the boundless universe of the mind. Don't miss your chance to embark on this unparalleled adventure where mind and spirit converge.

Since 1978, the Friends of Laurel Hill has continued to serve as stewards of two historic cemeteries as well as curating year-round programs, tours, and events. Laurel Hill East is a Victorian cemetery founded in 1836, a National Historic Landmark, and an immersive outdoor performance environment for shapeshifters and taphophiles.

A Midnight’s Dream - A Magical Remount!

A continuation of this December's immersive hit! Our March remount will feature a stellar cast portraying the four lovers, Oberon and Titania, and a bevy of fairies sure to cause trouble.

Our actors roam freely through the space, and you can signal your level of interactivity using glow bracelets. Scenes, activations, and special moments happen intermittently during this 2-hour event, so adventure forth and enjoy!

This event concludes with a forum-theatre style showing of Pyramus and Thisbe, where the audience (YOU!) helps to create the ending.
